Friends of Douglas Cemetery
The Friends Of Douglas Cemetery was formed for the Preservation of this Historic African American resting place of so many former Alexandrian residents who paved the way for those of us who exist today. Douglas has 2000 people of color buried there with only 650 to 700 headstones that are accounted for. It's a mission of the S.R.G to help bring Douglas from a neglected place of rest to a place of comfort for all to visit. The S.R.G along with former family members and stakeholders with the help of The City Of Alexandria Archaeology Department will be working together to bring this to reality. For more history on Frederick Douglas Cemetery please go to alexandriaarchaeology.org or the alexandriablackhistorymuseum.org.
